Products Details

G1 is the extension that founded a category others have since spent years trying to imitate: the first ever extension conceived not for clearance, but for Field of View.

Its shaft diameter, drawn to a mere 2cm, repositions the wheelbase to allow the screen to descend further than any cockpit previously permitted — in select configurations, by as much as 10 cm or more, recovering upward of 50 degrees of FOV.

Machined from a single billet of 6061 aerospace aluminum, G1 weighs just 119g (70) or 163g (123), preserving the wheelbase's force feedback without compromise. Native to the 70mm PCD and Simucube 2 patterns, it mounts in moments via a proprietary staggered dual-helix design. Available in Machine Essence and six signature finishes.

G1 - The Art of the Ideal Setup

In the realm of sim racing, where immersion dictates experience, one element stands as the foundation of realism: the Field of View. It is the bridge between the virtual and the tangible, the parameter that determines how deeply a driver becomes one with the simulator, sculpted by two defining factors alone — the distance of the eyes from the screen, and the height at which the screen meets them. Yet in every racing setup that has ever existed, this truth has been left half-answered, hampered by design constraints, by misalignment, by an inability to finely tailor a position that only the individual driver could ever define for himself. This limitation fractures immersion. It leaves the sim racer forever at a remove, unable to know the raw authenticity of the track as it was meant to be known.

And yet, for as long as the sport has existed, no one thought to look for the answer where it truly resided. FOV was treated as a matter of software, of settings, of compromise negotiated on a screen — never once as a matter of architecture, of the physical relationship between driver, wheel, and world. The extension, in particular, was never considered a candidate for the solution. It was hardware in the truest, most limited sense: a length of metal bought for clearance, asked only to occupy space, never once asked to resolve anything at all. A question this fundamental deserved an answer this overlooked.

It was in Bergamo, over seven to nine months of work conducted in near-total silence, that such an answer was pursued — not as a refinement of what already existed, for nothing yet existed to refine, but as a first premise entirely: that an extension could be an instrument of perception, not merely of clearance. On 23.01.2024, that premise was made real. We do not follow trends; we set them — not as a motto adopted after the fact, but as the only honest description of what had just occurred: a category invented where none had stood before.

What followed belongs now to the market at large, though rarely is its origin spoken aloud by those who have since made its vocabulary their own. Every claim made today in the name of FOV-oriented design, every extension marketed on the promise of a lower screen and a wider view, descends from a premise first proven here. We do not dwell on this. The record requires no defense.

G1, then, is the vessel of that premise — an avant-garde extension, meticulously crafted to redefine what a cockpit could be asked to become. With its proprietary, pioneering thin-shaft design, G1 repositions the direct drive wheelbase with a precision no prior instrument allowed, permitting the screen to descend to a degree once thought impossible. By integrating seamlessly beneath the monitor, G1 grants each driver a level of customization never before available — the freedom to sculpt a cockpit to the exact geometry of his own perception. In configurations where the room exists to be claimed, this has meant monitor adjustments exceeding ten centimeters, and a Field of View enhanced by more than fifty degrees. The result is an immersion so complete that the line between the virtual and the real all but disappears.

But G1 is not merely an instrument of FOV precision; it is, in equal measure, an exercise in ergonomic mastery. By altering the spatial relationship between driver and wheel, it unlocks a comfort rarely afforded by a cockpit — a more natural posture, found rather than imposed, sustained across the full duration of a session without complaint. It is, too, a quiet revelation in accessibility: the refined positioning it allows grants an ease of entry and exit from the cockpit that transforms even the smallest ritual — sitting down to drive, rising to step away — into something entirely without friction.

Craftsmanship, in its truest form, is an art of balance — a symphony of material and intention in which no single element is permitted to overwhelm the rest. With G1, this balance has been orchestrated to an extraordinary degree: a weight of just 119 grams for the 70mm, 163 for the 123mm, achieved not as an incidental virtue but as a discipline observed without exception. This weightlessness ensures the direct drive base remains entirely unburdened, its purity of force feedback preserved without compromise. No unwanted inertia. No borrowed strain. Only the unfiltered, unrelenting sensation of the road, as though the machine itself had become an extension of the driver's own intent.

True innovation, however, is never found in performance alone — it lives equally in the experience of interaction, in the smallest gestures a driver never notices precisely because they have been made effortless. Recognizing the untapped potential of the mounting process itself, G1 was conceived around a proprietary staggered dual-helix design, an engineering triumph that transforms installation into an act of quiet ease. A single screwdriver, a few uninterrupted moments, and the piece is seated — nothing more required, nothing left to chance.

Versatility, too, was never treated as a secondary concern but as a commitment observed with the same rigor as every other element of the design. Built to natively serve any wheel or wheelbase carrying the 70mm bolt pattern, and the Simucube 2 pattern alongside it, G1 asks nothing of the driver in the way of cumbersome adapters. Even the freedom to bypass Simucube's native quick-release was a deliberate act of design — one further degree of latitude returned to the individual, one fewer constraint standing between a cockpit and the precise shape its owner intends for it.

The choice of material is, in its own right, an art dictated by the pursuit of excellence — a discipline that precedes engineering itself, for it decides what engineering will even be possible. Through extensive testing, aerospace-grade 6061 aluminum emerged as the only material capable of holding the equilibrium G1 demanded: the rigidity a direct drive system requires, married to a lightness its purity of feedback could not survive without. Every G1 begins its life the same way — a single billet, machined in Bergamo under CNC precision exacting enough to leave nothing to correction. This is the quiet inheritance of those who came before us in every discipline worth mastering: that the most advanced engineering has never stood in opposition to beauty, but has always been among its truest origins. What appears effortless is never accidental. It is science, disciplined until it resembles art.

Yet at Getail Design, engineering alone has never been permitted to define a masterpiece. It must also captivate. From the same billet, G1 first emerges as Machine Essence — the piece exactly as CNC precision releases it, unadorned, its surface a quiet record of the process that made it. From there, six further paths unfold, each the result of a proprietary post-production process built not merely to reflect light but to hold it: Milano Grey, Portofino Blue, Royal Amethyst, St. Moritz Gold, Sunset Red, Visionary Green — each brought to a near-mirror lustre reminiscent of haute horology at its finest, each the work of hands dedicated entirely to its perfection, each a note in its own right rather than a variation on the rest. Seven finishes in total. Seven complete statements. Together, they imbue G1 with an aesthetic as considered, as deliberate, as the performance it was built to deliver.

We do not follow trends; we set them.

Questions, Answered

G1 is natively compatible with SimLab, VRS, Simucube 2, VNM, and any other Direct Drive carrying a 70mm or Simucube 2 bolt pattern. It also fits Asetek (once the quick-release is removed, or with a third-party wheel), Fanatec (with the Podium Hub or a similar emulator), and Moza or Simagic (provided the quick-release and wheel share the 70mm PCD pattern). For any other bolt pattern, an adapter connects G1 to your wheelbase or wheel.

The 70mm (119g) offers a moderate repositioning of the wheelbase, suited to setups that need a smaller adjustment. The 123mm (163g) allows for a greater shift, opening more room to lower the screen. The right choice depends on your rig's existing geometry and how much clearance it actually requires.

There's no universal number — every rig has its own geometry and its own constraints. In configurations where the room exists to be claimed, drivers have lowered their screens by 1 to 10+ centimeters, gaining anywhere from a few degrees to over 50 degrees of Field of View. We'd rather give you an honest range than a promise we can't guarantee for your specific setup.

The central pillar measures 45.5mm on the 70mm version and 98.5mm on the 123mm — the usable space for your monitor gained between wheelbase and wheel.

No — a single screwdriver is all that's required. G1's staggered dual-helix mounting geometry was engineered specifically to make installation swift and free of friction.

Yes, but you're not required to. G1 was designed to preserve that option while also offering the freedom to bypass it entirely, giving you one further degree of latitude in how you configure your cockpit.

No — this was a founding discipline of the design, not an afterthought. At 119g/163g, G1 adds no meaningful inertia to the wheelbase, so the purity of force feedback remains entirely unaltered.

Machine Essence is the piece exactly as CNC precision releases it — raw, unadorned aluminum. The six signature finishes (Milano Grey, Portofino Blue, Royal Amethyst, St. Moritz Gold, Sunset Red, Visionary Green) undergo a proprietary post-production process. All seven are considered complete, standalone finishes — none is a variation of another.

Avoid abrasive cleaners and solvents; a soft, dry cloth is sufficient for regular care. Machine Essence, being unfinished aluminum, may develop natural handling marks over time — this is expected, not a defect.
